Weather alerts data available on MSC GeoMet
MSC GeoMet provides access to the weather alerts layer. Users can build mobile apps, create interactive web maps, and display and animate MSC data in desktop software.
Web Map Service (WMS)
The weather alerts layer is available on GeoMet-Weather via the Web Map Service (WMS) standard.
Example of a web map configured to display the Current-Alerts layer served by MSC GeoMet:
MSC AniMet is a map viewer that connects to GeoMet web map services and OGC APIs to animate and share interactive map views. The Current-Alerts layer is available for visualization in AniMet.
Usage
The usage overview page provides generic information on using these services with desktop software, mobile apps, interactive web maps and direct access. Available layers
There is one main weather alerts layer with all four types of alerts:
- Warning
- Watch
- Statement
- Advisory
Usage tips
WMS styles:
- The list of available WMS styles is provided in the WMS GetCapabilities response (example of a WMS GetCapabilities request)
- Furthermore, users can request layers with their own custom styles with the Styled Layer Descriptor (SLD) standard, please refer to the SLD technical documentation
Legends:
- Legends are available for every WMS style. Details are provided in the WMS legend technical documentation

OGC-API - Features
Weather alerts are available on GeoMet-OGC-API via the OGC-API - Features standard.
It is possible filter alerts using CQL2.
